I am UNDONE

Pretty dramatic header, right? Well, today those are the only words that come to mind. 

I truly believe and know for a fact that God enjoys outdoing Himself in blessing his children. There have been many situations where I will just sit back and think, “Man, you must have so much fun up there thinking of what you’ll do next”! I don’t know how many of you are day dreamers or futuristically minded, but I definitely am! For as long as I can remember I have always day dreamed about what it will be like when my brother gets married (and vice versa.) I had a lot of questions and unrealistic standards of who would be the perfect wife for Tanner. Yes, I am that sister and unashamedly so. In a perfect world she would love the Lord, love and steward my brother’s heart as if it were her own, and she would be the perfect addition to the Tafaro family. That has been my prayer for years but obviously I could not know what it would be like until it was happening. 

There are two scriptures that come to mind. The first is one of my favorite scriptures, Ephesians 3:20 (TPT) and it says, “He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.” 

The second is I Corinthians 2:9 and it says, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him”. If God said it, it is going to happen! His Word is a promise, but you will have to wait for Him to bring it to fruition. Many times his timing does not look anything remotely close to what we had in mind. However, at all times and in every situation, his TIMING and what he has PREPARED for us is always infinitely better than anything we could have chosen for ourselves. 

Fast forward to now… If I were to talk about my brother’s fiancé, I would say that I could not have picked a more perfect girl for him even if I tried, and the reason Casie is perfect is because she is NOT who I picked for him. She is who God picked for him. Not only did she blow my expectations out of the water, but she also played an instrumental part in bringing my brother and I closer together. 

She wanted me in the bridal party!!! I did not have any expectations, so I was over the moon! She comes in with a box that has gift paper hanging out of it. I immediately know that this is the moment she is asking me to be in the wedding and the set up of the box is precious! Immediately, I froze. Written on the picture was, ” Riley, will you be my… Maid of Honor?” When I was finally composed enough to say yes, I asked her “Why? You have girl friends that you’ve known much longer than me”, and the first words out of her mouth were, “Because you’re my sister”! This was a blessing far beyond what I could have imagined. 

This is just one example of how I have experienced God’s faithfulness. When you surrender your desires, will, dreams, and ultimately your life, “He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all..” (Eph. 3:20) He wants to wildly surpass every dream you have for your life. He takes such delight in blessing us and confirming His Word in our lives. I want to encourage you to surrender those things to him and trust his timing. When you give him control, he never disappoints. What have you got to lose?
